On its original release the game set the standard that has inspired thousands of competitors to emulate gameplay, perspectives and missions. Recently remastered to take advantage of improved rendering and graphic interfaces, it is a first-person shooter set in an alternate reality (albeit one that is very believable as to backstory) of present times, when the assassination of a middle eastern president threatens to ignite global warfare. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for PC was first released in 2007, but proved to be such a popular and well-crafted game that its popularity never really waned.
